Apollo competitors and alternatives for staffing agencies
By Drippay, Inc.Published 9 min read
Apollo is a useful starting point when a staffing firm wants contact data, email sequences, and a dialer in one self-serve product. It is still a prospecting database. It does not tell you which employer is ready to open a role or which current client is the best door into it. The right alternative depends on the side of the desk that needs help.
This comparison uses current vendor pages checked October 6, 2026. It separates candidate sourcing from client development, because a recruiter can have plenty of contact records and still miss the job order. dreach is the client-development option in this page: it watches employers a firm already works with, flags new openings, names the hiring manager with a current email and phone, and shows the warmest way in. Outreach is sent from the firm’s own accounts.

the short version
- Keep Apollo if you want a self-serve database with sequences and a dialer, and you are willing to test credit use and coverage in your niche.
- Choose ZoomInfo if you need a sales-led enterprise data stack, intent, and account intelligence, and a written quote fits the desk.
- Choose Cognism if verified mobile data and hiring, job-change, or intent signals matter more than a self-serve checkout.
- Choose UpLead if you want published credit tiers and a small team can work within a fixed monthly allowance.
- Consider dreach if the target employers are already in your firm’s network and the missing step is finding their new demand and the right person to contact.
What Apollo is good at
Apollo bundles a contact and company database with email sequences, CRM connections, a Chrome extension, and a dialer on higher tiers. Its appeal is the short path from search to outreach. A small desk can buy without a long procurement cycle and test a market quickly.
The trade-off is credit accounting. Apollo lists one credit for an email reveal, eight for a phone number, and credit use for enrichment and AI research. Credits reset at the end of the billing cycle and do not roll over. A list that looks cheap can become expensive when the team needs mobile numbers or repeated enrichment.

Apollo pricing and credit fit
Apollo’s current public page lists a free plan, Basic at $49 per seat per month billed annually, Professional at $79 per user per month billed annually, and Organization at $119 per user per month billed annually with a three-seat minimum. The page also lists annual credit allowances by tier. Treat those numbers as plan references, not as a forecast of your usable contacts.
| Option | Public price | What to test for a staffing desk |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Whether the contact and account sample is useful before a paid plan |
| Basic | $49 per seat per month, billed annually | Email-first client development and the export limit for your niche |
| Professional | $79 per user per month, billed annually | Dialer, intent, and mobile-credit use for the people who own the req |
| Organization | $119 per user per month, billed annually; three-seat minimum | Admin controls and shared workflows for a larger desk |
Run the same sample through every shortlisted tool. Use known employers, known hiring managers, and the exact titles your desk sells into. Count a record only when the email or phone is current and the person still owns the work.
The main Apollo alternatives
ZoomInfo is the enterprise path. Its Sales product page describes a verified B2B database, company and contact information, buyer intent, CRM workflows, and sales automation. It does not show a public paid list price on the page. Ask for the cost of the data, intent, seats, exports, and any engagement modules as separate lines.
Cognism is the data-quality and signal path. Its pricing page describes Standard and Pro packages with five seats included, plus emails, mobiles, job titles, work history, hiring and job-change signals, and on-demand mobile verification in Pro. Pricing is tailored to the product, team setup, and usage. It is a sales conversation, not a checkout page.
UpLead is the smaller, published-credit path. Its current page lists Essentials at $99 per month with 170 credits, Plus at $199 per month with 400 credits, and Professional as a custom team plan. One credit unlocks a contact with email and direct dial when available. This is easy to budget, but the allowance can be the constraint for a broad market.
LinkedIn Sales Navigator is the relationship path. The current plan page lists Core at US$119.99 per month or US$1,079.88 per year, Advanced at US$159.99 per month or US$1,799.88 per year, and Advanced Plus as custom. It adds account and lead search, relationship tools, and team features. It is useful when the path into an employer matters more than a bulk export.
| Option | Best when | What the quote or plan leaves to test |
|---|---|---|
| ZoomInfo | You need enterprise data, intent, and account workflows | Paid price, contract scope, exports, and coverage in the staffing niche |
| Cognism | Verified mobiles and hiring signals are central | Tailored price, usage allowance, and the five-seat package fit |
| UpLead | You want public credit tiers for a small desk | How quickly the credit allowance is used on phones and exports |
| Sales Navigator | You want account maps and a warm route into a decision maker | Manual research, contact capture, and the CRM workflow around it |

Apollo.io competitors in one list

What staffing firms should test
Do not run a generic sales sample. Choose one live client-development motion and one live candidate motion. For client development, give each vendor the employers your firm actually wants and test whether it finds the right business unit and current hiring manager. For candidate work, test the role titles, locations, and seniority the desk fills most often.
Then check the handoff. Does the record show why the person is relevant? Can the recruiter see when the contact was verified? Can the team put the result into the ATS or CRM without a second spreadsheet? Does the outreach come from the firm’s account with the right approval and unsubscribe controls? A database that passes the search but fails the handoff is still a slow tool.
- Use a fixed sample of known accounts and contacts.
- Separate email, direct dial, mobile, and job-change checks.
- Write down each credit consumed, including enrichment and refreshes.
- Ask what happens when a person changes employers or a number is wrong.
- Compare the first-year quote with the people-hours needed to work the results.

Where dreach fits
dreach is not another contact database. It is a managed client-development service for staffing firms. It watches past clients and target employers for hiring demand, flags the opening with its source and date, names the hiring manager with a current email and phone, and shows the warmest way in. The firm decides the message and sends outreach from its own accounts.
Use a database when you need to find a new person or company. Use dreach when the higher-value question is which employer already connected to your firm has a new opening worth working now. Pricing is not published. Scope, data access, and the commercial terms are confirmed for the firm before starting.

Apollo is a sensible fit when the job is self-serve data plus outreach. Move to ZoomInfo or Cognism for a sales-led data and signal program, UpLead for published credit tiers, or Sales Navigator for relationship-led account work. If the job is finding demand at employers your firm already knows, dreach is the separate client-development layer.
