Candidate rediscovery tools compared by use case
By Drippay, Inc.Published 8 min read
Candidate rediscovery tools find people already in your ATS who may fit a new role: past applicants, runners-up, and sourced profiles. Some are features inside the ATS; others connect to it and add matching, ranking, and outreach. This page groups the options by use case with the evaluation criteria stated, using each vendor’s own description as of September 2026.
Capabilities are described from each vendor’s published pages as of September 2026, linked under Sources; vendor performance statistics are not repeated. dreach is a managed service for staffing firms that watches known employers, flags new openings with the source and date, confirms the hiring manager to contact, and shows the warmest way in. It is not a rediscovery tool; where it fits is stated in its own section.

the short version
- Use the native ATS feature (Greenhouse Talent Rediscovery, Bullhorn Amplify Match) if your team fills in scorecards, rejection reasons, and tags, and you want results in the ATS workflow without adding a separate vendor.
- Add a connected rediscovery tool (Gem, Alex Talent Match, SquarePeg) if you need cross-role matching or ranking over the whole database, filters on interview stage or scorecard, or outreach sequencing from the results, and you can answer what data leaves the ATS.
- Consider a platform that includes rediscovery (hireEZ, Sense) if you are buying engagement, screening, or redeployment workflows anyway and rediscovery is one module among several.
- Consider dreach if the database is not the constraint and the employer side is: finding employers with evidenced demand, confirming the hiring manager, and showing the warmest way in.
Evaluation criteria
Ask each option five things. What does it search: applications, scorecards, rejection reasons, resume text, notes? Does it rank across all open roles or filter within one? Where do results appear and who can see them? What happens next: a deep link back to the ATS record, a project, or an outreach sequence? And what data leaves the ATS, where it is stored, and how it is deleted?
Native ATS rediscovery
Greenhouse documents Talent Rediscovery as a way to filter and search prospects and past applicants for a current job from a Find talent option, using AI-generated suggestions from the job post, application data such as interview scores and rejection reasons, keyword search over resumes and notes, tags, education, and custom fields. It is available to job admins with candidate permissions on the Plus and Pro tiers per the support article.
Bullhorn’s Amplify Match identifies candidate matches for open jobs and notifies recruiters, and Bullhorn Search & Match describes ranked matches with relevancy scores built from the job description and continuous matching as candidates arrive. Bullhorn’s guidance recommends standardizing titles and skills, starting with a small high-quality pool, and prioritizing recently engaged candidates and silver medalists.
Connected rediscovery tools
Gem documents ATS candidate rediscovery inside its prospect search: an ATS applications filter set for job, candidate tag, rejection reason, interview stage reached, and scorecard rating, applied by default to candidates without active applications, with results added to a project or a sequence. The help article lists Greenhouse, Lever, Workday, SuccessFactors, SmartRecruiters, and iCIMS as supported systems.
Alex describes Talent Match as matching candidates already in the ATS to open roles using natural-language understanding of the role, ranking on skills, experience, location, and past interview data, engaging candidates with personalized messages and booking interviews, and recommending other suitable roles, operating on ATS data without exports. The broader Alex product also covers AI interviews, screening, scheduling, and verification.
SquarePeg describes sourcing for open roles directly from ATS applicant history, evaluating candidates across several open positions, and deep-linking into the candidate’s ATS profile when the recruiter is ready to reach out; outreach itself happens in the ATS. Its page does not list specific ATS integrations.
Platforms that include rediscovery
hireEZ describes engagement and CRM capabilities that nurture the pipeline, resurface past applicants, and support internal mobility, alongside sourcing, applicant review, screening, and scheduling. Sense describes a staffing platform with candidate scoring and matching to surface and re-engage candidates, redeployment, and automated journeys over SMS, WhatsApp, email, and chat, with bidirectional integrations to Bullhorn, Salesforce, Avionte, and JobDiva.

How to trial a rediscovery tool
Run the native feature first on three live reqs and count qualified candidates surfaced. Then run each connected tool on the same reqs. Compare the shortlists, have a recruiter who did not work the req rate the top twenty blind, and reconfirm availability before counting anyone as a find. Ask each vendor what leaves the ATS and how candidates are told who is contacting them. If the native feature already produces a usable shortlist, the connected tool’s value is ranking and outreach, and you can price it that way.

Discuss this workflow with dreach
dreach is a managed service for staffing firms, run by hand in the pilot. It watches the employers your firm knows and the ones it can reach through a warm path, such as a current or past client, a person your firm placed who now works at the hiring company, or a contact your team authorizes. It flags new openings with the source and date, confirms the hiring manager to contact, and shows the warmest way in. For a live role, it ranks people your firm already knows from its own ATS, past placements, and network your firm authorizes, and shows why. Your team makes every contact; dreach contacts no one. Scope, data access, integration requirements, and availability are confirmed before starting.

Start with the rediscovery your ATS already includes and see what your data supports. Add a connected tool such as Gem, Alex Talent Match, or SquarePeg when you need cross-role matching, richer filters, or outreach from the results, and answer the data-flow question before you do. To explore dreach, discuss the known employers, openings, hiring managers, and warm paths your team wants to work, and confirm pilot scope before starting.
