What sourcing automation removes, and what it moves
Automation removes the repeating work: rerunning a saved search when new profiles appear, sending the first message and a follow-up, logging the activity. It moves other work rather than removing it. Someone has to write the criteria the agent evaluates against, review the shortlist it produces, decide the tone and identity of messages sent in the firm’s name, and handle the replies. - Replies to outreach, and how many turned into a conversation.
- Recruiter time spent per submittal, compared with the current method.
- One ranking explanation for a strong result and one for an obvious miss, from the vendor.
A worked example: a technical team trials a standalone layer and its ATS’s built-in sourcing on three engineering reqs. The standalone tool surfaces more profiles and drafts outreach; the ATS tool surfaces fewer but they are already in the database with history. The team ends up using the ATS search first on every req and the standalone layer only when the internal pool comes up short, which is a cheaper configuration than either vendor proposed.
